DIY CHARM CHOKER NECKLACE

A while ago I was going through my old jewelry and found a charm bracelet. Since I’m not really a huge bracelet wearer, I never really used it. However, it inspired me to make a charm necklace! Since chokers are super trendy right now, I decided to put my own twist on it and make this adorable charm choker necklace. It’s super easy to customize so have fun with it and make it your own!

What you’ll need:

- Jewelry chain

- 1 lobster clasp

- Jump rings

- Jewelry pliers

- Wire cutters

- Charms of your choice

Step 1: Hold one end of your chain as you measure around your neck. Make sure it isn’t too tight or too loose, however, you can make it any length you’d like. Once you’ve found your desired length, cut the chain and set aside the rest.

Step 2: On one end of your chain you will attach one jump ring, and on the other end you will attach a lobster clasp. See my post on necklace basics if you are unsure how to complete this step. With a bit of practice you’ll be an expert in no time!

Step 3: Lay out your charms. I decided to go with a mermaid theme for my necklace but you can use any charms you want! This is the part where you’ll have to decide how you want your charms organized and spaced out. Once you’re happy with the layout, attach the charms. Again, if you don’t know how to do this step, check out my necklace basics post.

Step 4: Try on your new necklace! If you love it, great! If it needs a little work, just take your time adjusting and arranging the charms until you’re happy with how it looks. If this is your first time making jewelry then give yourself a pat on the back! It can be tough to learn something new but with some more practice you’ll catch on quickly!

I wanna see your necklaces! There are so many different ways to personalize this DIY; you’ll have a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry. Not only is this project fun to make, it can also be a great handmade gift! I’m so happy with how mine turned out and I hope you enjoyed making your charm choker necklace as well.
